This thematic unit provides Key Stage 2 teachers with a range of activities which explore how to prepare for and deal with emergency situations. It also examines the effects of natural and human events upon our environment over time. It is aligned with the requirements of the Northern Ireland Curriculum and the aims/ objectives of the Northern Ireland Risk Register and Regional Community Resilience Group. This thematic unit signposts teachers to new and existing materials from various first responders, agencies and government bodies. The teacher is best placed to select the activities which are most appropriate to their specific context and the emotional maturity of the children in the class. It is not necessary to explore the resource in any particular order or to complete it in its entirety.
