Promoting the Outdoor Learning Approach

Pam Lowry sums up the positives of outdoor learning and invites you to Killylea Primary School to see it in action.

Learning Points

  • Support what you know about Outdoor Learning with sound research.

  • Look at the ETI report on Outdoor Learning (click here for document...)

  • If your school has not started Outdoor Learning visit a school that has already started the Outdoor Learning journey.

  • Put Outdoor Learning on the School Development Plan and adopt a whole school approach.

  • It is particularly important at Foundation Stage as sound learning and development will flourish from a sound base.

Key Questions

  • What are the main challenges you have faced and how have you overcome them? What would you do differently?

  • If you have not yet started what school would you visit?
